Dear Parents, Guardians and Employees,
As we enjoy these beautiful fall days and adjust to the colder days coming this winter season, I want to remind everyone of our procedures for notifying families of school cancellations due to inclement weather. If weather conditions require us to close school, we will inform you using the following methods:
• Automated Phone Call - PLEASE BE SURE THAT YOUR CONTACT INFO IS CORRECT IN POWERSCHOOL!
• Automated Text Message - PLEASE BE SURE THAT YOUR CONTACT INFO IS CORRECT IN POWERSCHOOL!
• District Facebook Page
• Local Television – 9 & 10 News; 7 & 4 News
• We do not contact radio stations
We often send important information by email as well, so it’s imperative to make sure that your parent / guardian email address is correct on our PowerSchool system too. If you’re not sure, contact the building secretary or Linda Fullerton, Admin Assistant to the Superintendent / Board, at 231-829-3841, to verify or update it. Thank you and have a great rest of the year!
With Pride,
Michelle Gill
Superintendent

Last food service update for this National School Lunch week: Great news! We're reducing the price of an extra meal to just $1.00 so our students can eat more for less.

PRHS Sophomore Activity Update:
In Ms. Genthner's World History class, the sophomores are beginning a unit on West African Empires. As an intro activity, they went to various stations around the room to gather information in order to determine which is more valuable--gold or halite (salt). Stations included Health Benefits of Halite that included a visual of how much water and sodium our bodies lose in a typical day, advertisements for both edible gold and halite, how weapons made of gold would perform against those made of steel and more. Both gold and halite were very valuable in West African Empires, but salt was far more valuable than gold.

Thank you to our sponsor Dean's Body Shop and a big congratulations to our Buck of the week, Logan Malcomnson.

Mrs. Gill and Mrs. Delancey witnessed elementary students taking down the flag this week on another beautiful fall day. Great job girls.

Pine River High School students made a variety of items from natural resources this week in Mr. Thompson's Outdoor Education class. I wish I was still in high school!

National School Lunch week continues and we want to again recognize our amazing food service staff for keeping us fed and cared for! Thank you ladies!!

America's Safe Schools Week is observed from October 16 - 24, 2024. Here is some information about what we do at Pine River Area Schools to keep school safety a top priority.

Recent weather related events have caused the blood supply to be dangerously low and the need to be higher than typical. Along with winter months typically having a decreased supply and higher need, we need to try and do our part to help. Our PR National Honor Society is holding a blood drive in the high school gymnasium on Tuesday, October 22nd . Appointments are available from 8:30am until 2:15pm for both whole blood and double red donations. Please use the following link to sign up! Any student 16 years old will need to have a signed parental consent form, which I've attached. Extra copies are available in the office as well. Please bring your photo ID. Every donor will receive a Nirvana-inspired t shirt. Please consider helping out by donating if you can!
