January is Mental Health & Wellness Month. Pine River Area Schools, along with the Wexford Missaukee ISD and Family Health Care organization, support our students mental health in a variety of ways. We offer three social workers, two counselors, three student success coordinators, two deans of students, one assistant principal and three principals. In addition, our paraprofessionals, teachers and secretaries play vital roles in supporting our students every day. We also provide social, emotional learning (SEL) instruction, a high school leadership program focused on student support, grief support groups, National Honor Society and we have a presenter coming to the high school on March 12th. Another new partnership we have is with ParentGuidance.org which offers many free resources for our families. During January's Mental Health & Wellness Month, I want to thank ALL of our employees and partners for supporting our students and staff!
With PRide,
Superintendent Michelle Gill

Good Evening Pine River Schools Community, This is Superintendent Michelle Gill.
This was a tough call but we are going to close school tomorrow, January 22nd, due to the continued below zero weather. Stay warm and I’ll see you Thursday for sure!

The HS basketball games scheduled for tonight have been CANCELED. HS coaches will reach out to players regarding practice times and locations. All non HS practices are canceled.

Despite 65% of the population being eligible, only 3% of Americans currently donate blood. Share the love and be a hero by donating blood to help save lives!
The blood supply is dangerously low this winter. We need to try and do our part to help. The PR National Honor Society is holding a blood drive in the high school gymnasium on Thursday, February 6th. Appointments are available from 8:30 AM until 2:15 PM for both whole blood and double red donations. Please use the following link to sign up! 16 year olds will need to have a signed parental consent form, which is attached. Extra copies are available in the office for students as well. Please bring your photo ID. Please consider helping out by donating if you can!

January is School Board Appreciation Month!
Being a school board member is not an easy job, it's completely volunteer and membership includes a 6 year term. I've attached a flyer with more info about what board members do and don't do. This January, I'd like to introduce, thank and recognize our board members for their support of our students and staff. I'm going to try this one board member at a time since it didn't portray properly last time I tried it.
Our newest Pine River Area Schools Board member to introduce, thank and recognize is Wayne Tessman Jr. Wayne is self-employed as a Snap-On franchisee owner. He has been married to his wife Leanne for 12 years and they have three children who attend Pine River Area Schools. He states that “What I love about Pine River is the small-town, caring atmosphere! I look forward to the opportunity of serving on the school board.”
Thank you Mr. Tessman for volunteering your time and energy to be a Pine River Area Schools Board Member!

Our Buck of the Week is brought to you by Transformational Choices. Congratulations Lilly Felsk

Many thanks to our amazing Pine River Area Schools Bus Drivers! Today Officer Helmer provided them with "Stop the Bleed" training and provided each driver with a bleeding control kit for their bus. Thank you bus drivers! We appreciate you keeping our students safe every day!
With PRide,
Superintendent Michelle Gill
